Chris Lamare raced for Macob Motorsport for the first time at Oulton Park on the 5th August, 2006. After only a few laps of testing in the car he qualified better than many of the more experienced drivers and followed this up with a creditable eleventh place finish, picking up a championship point.
After the race, Chris said: "The track was very fast and flowing which I personally found much easier to learn than Brands hatch. The Friday test went well findng more than 2.5 secs a lap over the course of the day with a fastest lap of 1:25.68"
"On Saturday morning it rained before qualifying but stopped about an hour before I had to go out. We set the car to give more grip for the green track but once I was out there I realised the track wasn't that slow and I struggled with the car. I qualified 16th which I wasn't very pleased about but felt ok as I was confident I would move forward in the race. I got off the line well, entering the first corner in my start position 16th, and by the end of the first lap I had moved in to 14th due to a couple of cars coming together which I was lucky to avoid. From there on I settled into the race and started to make ground quickly on the 3-car pack in front. I over took the P13 car around the outside of the first corner and another into the last corner. Finally, on the last lap I over took James Green into Cascades which was tricky manoeuvre to pull off but I succeeded! I past the chequered flag in 11th place."
"I really enjoyed the race and felt confident that if I had qualified higher I would have moved up even further to the sharper end of the grid in the race. I can't wait to get back out in the car at Pembrey, where I hope to qualify and finish higher up."
